The newest tournament runs through June 25. Race a reverse Time Trial in Mushroom Gorge. If you look closely, you’ll see that the layout of the Trampoline Mushrooms is also a little different than usual. This could be the key to a fast time!

Galaxy Colosseum Track

The newest tournament, which is available until June 9th, features a new track. Galaxy Colosseum is based on Super Mario Galaxy. There’s not much to this track, but it is if nothing else a previously unseen track. This track can be downloaded but currently only played in tournament mode.

Nintendo has thrown down the gauntlet for Mario Kart Wii racers worldwide. Now it’s time to see who’s up to the challenge, as players take on the world in Mario Kart Wii Tournaments.

Every few weeks, a new tournament will appear on the Mario Kart Channel, an online feature that not only allows players to compete in tournaments, but also exchange race data with friends. Tournaments might take the form of a challenge for players to race a certain course as fast as they can with specific characters, or to collect a number of coins on a course using the Wii Wheel accessory or another control setup. They can feature unique rules or obstacles on the course.

Following reports of about 300,000 units sold in the first day, Media Create reports that Mario Kart Wii has sold 594,000 in its first week in Japan.
